First Episode Psychosis Program
Delta Counseling Associates, Inc. is helping people find positive solutions to the challenges in
their lives. As with all medical conditions, the outlook for a full recovery is more positive when
behavioral health treatment is initiated quickly after the initial diagnosis.
First Episode Psychosis (FEP) is a term used to describe the experience of 100,000 adolescents
and young adults (age 15-34) in the US each year who have disruptions in their thoughts and
perceptions that make it difficult for them to understand what is real and what is not.
The First Episode Psychosis (FEP) Program at Delta Counseling Assocaties, Inc. is designed
to educate young people and their support sytem about what they are experiencing and the
evidence-based treatment options that are available to support a full recovery. Treatment may
include psychotherapy, medication management, case management, ongoing support and
education, and is focused on what matters most to the young person and their family.
Symptoms of First Episode Psychosis Include:
Hallucinations- Auditory, Visual, Taste, Smell, and Touch.
Delusions-False and fixed beliefs, which may involve paranoia or mistaken identity.
Experiencing changes in thought patterns, problems focusing, following conversations.
Demonstrating changes in behavior, such as laughing at inappropriate times, getting upset
for no known reason, isolating, or having sleep and eating patterns disrupted.
